This includes navigating the often tricky issues that will need to be dealt with in terms of witnesses in other countries. Our clients need not worry about the complicated cultural or legal issues surrounding securing the permissions necessary to hold such depositions. While it is certainly in our client’s best interest to try and arrange for any foreign witness to come to the United States to be deposed, there are always instances where this just is not feasible or practical. In those cases, significant planning must be done to ensure compliance with applicable immigration and treaty requirements, and there is always a real need to be aware of and understand local customs and practices.
